More Hunting

We live in a place where you hear gun shots MANY times throughout the day during gun season.
Sometimes they sound TOO close but I know they aren't. I have made the boys wear their blaze orange a few days because there is soo much woods around our house and even though it is our property and my parents, you never know who is hunting out there.

Plus, they love wearing it like daddy :)

Kevin has killed 3 deer this year. He is really loving it in the country. He has had a few friends come out to hunt with him. Most days, the boys and I wait and wait and they ask me 100 times when daddy will be home with his deer. The boys are so bummed when he comes home empty handed. haha

I know it's kind of sick but Kipton LOVES to pet the deer. Like LOVES it.
He keeps petting it's head over and over and says "awwww baby deer" lol

My boys are destined to be hunters, and I am so thankful for a husband who teaches his boys about hunting and the outdoors. I love that they are learning and getting these awesome life experiences with their daddy. So blessed!

Opening of Gun Season

Did you know that in West Virginia they actually give students 2 extra days on their Thanksgiving Break for gun season? Yep that's right! If my boy were in "real" school they would be taking advantage of it too. However, this year it's just daddy hunting and the boys seeing his mighty work.

After church today Kevin and I came home and put the boys down for naps. I started picking up my room and bathroom and Kevin said he was going out back to hunt for a while. Within 5 minutes I heard a gun shot but it's really normal to hear them around where we live so I didn't think it was Kevin.

He was back shortly on the 4-wheeler and said "Well that was fast!" He literally rode for about 2 minutes and saw this spike and shot him. He was happy and when the boys woke up they were happy too! Happy afternoon by all.

Did I ever think that this would be "OK" by me as a  mom? Probably not, but yep it's ok because boy moms have to overlook the nasty and gross part and just be happy that they are BOYS and are enjoying nature and the little things in life.

If I had all girls...would I let them touch it? Maybe not. But my life is a life with all boys, so why not embrace it?

We are proud of Kevin! He loves to hunt and this is first year "living" in the country. I did grow up in the country but he did not. He lived more in the subdivision/city so this is new to him to be able to see many deer everyday and hunt out your backdoor. I know the boys are LOVING growing up in the country and again, I am so happy for our move.

It's beginning to look a lot like........Hunting Season :)

Now to kill a turkey! haha

House full of boys

Kevin has been hunting a lot since season started. His friend Pup from work has hunted with him a few times and they hunted for squirrel last weekend. Pup ended up staying with Kevin for 2 days hunting in different places and they had a blast.

The boys and I had a Halloween to go to this day and when we got home around 1 we had this on our back porch. Horray :)

To say that Karson loved this would be a complete understatement. HE WAS BESIDE HIMSELF!
He talks about it everyday and even told his preschool teachers. Lovely :)

It has been all about hunting here. Especially because Karson was a hunter for Halloween and has his own camo attire. Kipton had to have some too....you know how that goes :)

The boys LOVE Pup! I think he is one of their favorite people. For 2 complete days that Kevin and him were off work they wrestled the boys, worked outside with them, hunted, ate, slept, ate, worked, hunted, ate, slept, and yeah ate!! With 4 boys in the house I could barely keep up with their eating.

They had a blast with the boys! Karson can't wait until Pup comes back for a "sleepover". I know it sounds so weird but guys don't care where they have to stay if it means they get to go hunting early in the morning and in the evenings. He slept on the couch and had 2 little boys giving him early wake up calls :) I guess this was just a taste of what life will be like with my 2 boys and their friends over.

They are already planning their next hunting trip for this Tuesday and Wednesday! Lord helps us!

Halloween Eve

Yep...your eyes are not deceiving that is SNOW!
It is October and it snowed almost 4 inches here in West Virginia. The cold front came in from Hurricane Sandy and pushed wind and snow our way. When the boys woke up they couldn't stop looking out the window. Thankfully Kevin was off work and we could get out that morning for a little sledding and fun!

They loved being pulled by the 4-wheeler. Something that I did when we were growing up and it is so fun to watch the boys have fun with it too!!

We came back in for some hot chocolate! The boys love it, but use up alot of marshmallows. Probably not the healthiest snack but it is so good on snow days.

We stayed home on this day because of the snow and we really didn't have any plans anyway. After our sledding and lunch we all took naps. Well besides me...I did laundry :) But the boys and Kevin took naps and woke up in time for dinner.

We had spaghetti and then decided to carve some pumpkins with Kevin's help.

Of course just a simple knife wouldn't be ok...you have to break out the power tools with Kevin. The boys loved drilling holes in the pumpkin. They could have cared less about the goop inside or making a funny face. It was all about the power tools.

Kevin wanted to create this great pumpkin creation and it turned out to be really bad. So he cut a hole and put it on his head! HA Seriously? The boys and I were dying laughing.

We had a fun Halloween Eve at home with the snow and pumpkin carving.

On the 31st we had a preschool morning and here is Karson before we headed out.

He is still very picky about his clothes but agreed to wear this last Halloween shirt for mommy. I had him another fun glow in the dark skelton shirt that he down right refused to wear so we agreed he would wear this ghost shirt. I tell you....boys are high maintence about their clothes.

He said "Mom can't I just wear a baseball shirt or something?" lol it was kind of funny but I told him just 1 more time with a Halloween shirt.

Here is another Halloween shirt that I made for them and had their name monogrammed. I wanted to add it so that I remembered. I am a total junky for seasonal clothes for the boys. I LOVE them!

Tonight is our actual trick or treat night. It got changed to Nov 1 because of the snow storm. We would have been trick or treating in the snow if they kept the original date of Oct 30.

The boys are excited to "knock on peoples door". Kevin has to work this evening so we are taking Papaw Brad along with us. I feel like Halloween has been going on for weeks!
I am ready for it to be over :)

Perspective

I have kept up with many blogs since my blogging days began last year. I love reading along with other moms who are going through the same "season" of life that I am. I think it's so important to know that others are going through the same daily trials that come with raising kids.

One blog I have read along with is Julee's Blog. Julee lost her husband in a car wreck on Saturday night. She also has a 10 month old baby girl. Although I don't know her personally, sometimes it feels like you get to "know" someone when you read their daily blogs.

Since I read about this my heart has been breaking for her. Thinking about it several times throughout the day. It changes perspective for me, and I think sometimes we need that. It is easy to get caught up in the daily life of being a wife, a mom, running errands, and keeping up with the house.

I am so thankful for this guy! Sometimes I do take him for granted. Life would be SO incredible hard without my husband. Not just because he is the sole provider for our family, but because he fills that hole in our family that we need. He is our rock and such a wonderful husband and father to me and our boys. He is the hardest worker I know. No job is ever too big for Kevin.

Using these times to put things in perspective. It's really not about all of the little details in life. What clothes you wear, how much money you make, what kind of car you drive.

It's yours relationships that matter.

I've even realized here lately that friendship relationships will come and go. You can work and work for them, but sometimes they just aren't meant to be anymore. It's time to let go. It's hard but sometimes it's evident that it's what is supposed to be.

My family and my relationship with Jesus is really all that matters.

Please keep the Turner family in your prayers.

Daddy's Vacation

Kevin had 2 weeks of vacation time this year at work. We didn't go on any big vacation so he had time to just take randomly and stay home with us. He used 4 days and put with his 4 days off. We've had him home with us for 8 days and it has been super nice!!

The boys love having their daddy home. 12 hour days are long and they are normally getting ready for bed when he is getting home. We miss him so much, but we are so thankful for his good job and that he does get to come home every night.

The boys have been busy with our new fall schedule and working/keeping up with the house. Kevin also painted our bedroom sage green and finished all of the trim work. I am a little uneasy about such a dark color but he assures me that it will rub off on me. I am really into tan and white but trying to go half way with him. I'm hoping I will warm up to it.

We have also started a new bible study group at our church on Wednesday nights. It's super fun and the boys love going to be with their friends from church.

Kipton is a hoot these days!! Look at him with his finger up his nose...just smiling away. This picture is soooo Kipton! Ornery to the core :)

We made pizzas one night and let the boys do it ALL. Boy was that fun :)

But they were super proud, and we ate them for a late night snack. We will have to do that again soon. They had a great time with it and of course I gave a little lesson about making pizzas. It was a fun activity to do!

We have stayed busy in those 8 days and they have really went by fast. Just 7 more days until we can have more special time with daddy :)
