Stay at Home Moms

We all know that working is no fun, but it's got to be done. Being a stay at home mom IS a real job and a very hard but rewarding one. Here is an article that I love and can relate to because I have heard many of them in my 2 years of being home with my boys.

Written by Candy Kirby in the SFGate:

10 Things to Never say to a Stay at hom Mom

1. When the kids are older, do you think you'll get a real job?

2. How June Cleaver of you!

3. Oh, so you don't work?

4. Since you have extra time on your hands, could you whip up a few dozen brownies for the bake sale tomorrow?

5. All day with your kids? I can't even imagine.

6. I'm jealous. I wish my husband were rich so I wouldn't have to work either.

7. What do you do all day, anyway?

8. I'm sure you're not the only one whos wasted money on a college degree.

9. That explains why your son is so clingy.

10. Weird. I assumed your house would be superclean.

I'm sure all of you stay at home moms can relate to some part of this article.

New House

Building the new house has demanded a lot of time we never dreamed about. Lots of paperwork, running to Lowes, picking out every-single-tiny detail, mailing this, mailing that, going to the brick store, going to the window store, creating a kitchen, etc, etc, etc. Of course it is super fun for Kevin and I...but not so fun for the 2 boys in tow who would rather be at home running the backyard or getting into mischief.

Kevin and I had absolutely no problems agreeing on the house plan. We both love it!

Things I am most excited for:

 - All 1 Level -
(ahhh no more carrying laudry up and down 3 flights)

 - A Huge Pantry in the kitchen -
(something I have been DYING for)

- No more sharing a bathroom with the boys -

- Walk-in closet of my very own -

- Long front porch -

- Did I mention the no noise you hear when you go outside? -
(ahhh country living :)

- Along with many other things but those are my top 5 -

We were set back a few weeks because of the massive down pours last month but progess is coming along.

The road coming up to the house

That's all that I have time to post for now. I am hoping to do a blog post of all the before and after pictures I have up to date. It will be a great scrapbook someday.

I had to throw this one in just because I love them!
(even though they aren't looking)

Camden Park

Because we are building a house this summer there will be no vacations for us. (bummer) So I am constantly finding fun and different things for the boys to do to make up for it. (as if they even realize there is no beach)

So I found a day that wasn't going to be 90 degrees and we went to Camden Park.

Here are some pictures from our fun evening. Karson was a blast and LOVED every ride we took him on.

He had no objections to anything. Just a "go with the flow" kinda guy. When you ask him what his favorite ride was he says: "The row boats just like daddy does".

Even Kipton got to ride a few things with Karson. I was super nervous but it turned out to be okay.
Tears did come to my eyes when I was watching these two.
It really is happening. The boys are becoming best buds! :)

Kipton on the carousel with momma!

This ride made Kevin and I laugh until we cried. Karson LOVED it!
He laughed and smile the whole entire time.

1st time with Daddy

2nd time with Mommy
Another ride that made me super nervous. But Kevin insisted that
he would be fine....and he was.

Kipton and his snacks

We ended the evening with some Austin's ice cream and called it a night.
Everyone was ready for bed!

I am so lucky to have these three boys in my life. They make it so fun!

Catching a Memory

If I could say one thing about fishing it would be "blah!" From the day we met, Kevin has always tried to lure me into his favorite hobby of fishing. However, it has never worked. I think it's many things except for fun. I just can't get into sitting there for days waiting for something. I guess it proves that I'm too much of a busy body to just "sit" around.

And then came Karson, our two year old son. You won't believe what his daddy has done to him? Yep! Made him LOVE fishing.

These picture are from LAST YEAR around this same time of year.

This boy is beyond obsessed. Now that it is summer, Karson thinks everyday is fishing day. The whole 12 hours that Kevin is working he is waiting for his daddy to come home to take him fishing. It is super sweet.

"Mommy.....Daddy take me to dock."
"Karson catch a big SHISH"
"Mommy...Karson's SHISHY pole"

Since this is Karson's favorite hobby I guess I am stuck liking it.
It is so fun to watch him get excited when he thinks he is getting a fish.

At least once a week, or even more, we go somewhere to take him fishing.

Now that Kipton is in our family I normally sit with him and we watch Karson and Kevin.
Kevin was right about it being peaceful, even if you are just sitting and watching.

Last night Karson wanted to take his good friend Lexi along.

Down by the River

Here is a picture of Kipton eating his cracker with Mommy and watching the fishermen.

He is so sweet!

I'm sure there will be many more memories to come of fishing.

Brothers

After 10 months I think the boys are really starting to act like brothers do. Karson will get Kipton to laugh by making funny faces. He will do certain things "boys" do (snort, burp, blow raspberries) to get Kipton to mock him.

Now Kipton's new trick is clapping. I forgot how cute it is to see a baby clap. Karson is really loving the fact that he can clap and Kipton will repeat him.

Now that Kipton is so mobile, he can climb the stairs at the blink of an eye.

The gate went up and Kipton was NOT happy about it :)
I can already see the "tatle telling" coming out in Karson:

"Mommy!!!!!!! Kipton is crawling up the stairs"
"Get him Mommy"
"NO NO Kipton....Bad Boy!"
"Fall down."
"Go to the doctor. Get shots. In Belly"

Karson, Nana, and Papaw also planted pumpkin seeds at the new "house seat" in hopes that they will grow. More likely they will not...but we can hope. How awesome would it be to have a pumpkin farm?

Heres to hoping that the boys always enjoy each other and are the best of friends.

All things Kipton

Kipton Lee Dick was born on July 20th, 2010. He was 9 lbs 3 oz and 21 1/2 in long.
Here is a break down of our little guy.

  • He is now 10 months and 12 days.
  • He and Karson are 16 months apart.
  • He is 25 lbs and wearing a size 18 months in clothes.
  • He is a crawling and pulling up on furniture machine!
  • He walks the walls...seriously impressive.
  • He has never been a very good napper.
  • At the blink of the eye he his crawling up the stairs.
  • He is defiantly the 2nd child. He is WILD WILD WILD!! Here lately I have been telling him "no" when he goes to the outlets on the walls and his feelings are immediately hurt and he cries galore!
  • He is precious, and sweet with blonde hair and blue eyes!
  • Loves to be outdoors riding in his car, on the bike, or swinging outback.

And best of ALL he has a built in BEST FRIEND at home.
Who he loves very much.
