A love for decor!

Hobby Lobby makes it easy for us to create and decorate our homes. It is such a pleasant experience for us to shop there. I can't tell you how many times I'm in a store with such loud music that I want to leave quickly after. Hobby Lobby is not that way.

It is nice to go and look around at the different ideas they have to help you decorate your house into a home. It can get overwhelming at times. I go with a plan.

Ex: Today I'm going to look for a sign to go in the bathroom, or materials for a new wreath.

The other day the boys and I were browsing through looking for wreath materials because their floral was 50% off this week. A great time to make a new wreath. I already had the grapevine wreath in the garage, so I was going for a late summer/early fall look on our front door.

The boys and I picked these sunflowers and spikes that were all on sale, and this Buffalo check ribbon that I used my coupon on. Mr. Owl was in the fall section and he went right along with the buffalo check ribbon. He too was on sale for 40% off.

The boys were so proud of the finished product and told me many times that it looked amazing!!! :)

Just a love for decor on a budget!

Christmas Tour of our Home

Today, is one of my favorite blogging days of all. I love touring homes, and Christmas tours are the best. I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner to show our Christmas decorations for this year.

I wanted to go with a country theme this year. However, my tree doesn't represent that. I fell in love with all of the burlap and plaid, but didn't want to replace my tree decor this year because I just bought it last year. I love all things country. Love the outdoors, the decor, the simple country cooking, farming, and teaching my boys all about it as well.

Fell in love with this rustic and plaid paper!

Our fireplace was built by my handy husband. He also killed the buck that these antlers came from. Another new obsession I have this year. Decorating with pine cones, antlers, buckeyes, anything you can find in nature.

I made my boys new stockings from burlap material I had on hand and painted their initials.

I love this Christmas quilt made by my mom. Maybe I will get some "down" time in a few years of raising small boys and may start one for the boy's future family home. Karson also has one on his bed made by her!

Santa pictures are also out for pretty!

A few Christmas things hanging around in our kitchen. LOVE Pioneer Woman!

A few days ago, the boys and I cut down an evergreen/pin cone tree to decorate with. They had a blast each taking turns with the saw (supervised of course) and I love the fresh smell. It's awesome what you can find in your own backyard!

A few things on our front porch. I changed all of our wreath bows from red to burlap ones this year. Truth be told, my husband made them. As well as this little white sled. He's so handy!!

Hope you enjoyed our Christmas Home Tour!

Fall Front Porch

My favorite seasons are Spring and Fall. Everything about fall is so nice. I love decorating for all holidays, but fall is just so much fun!

Out of our pumpkin patch, we had 2 pumpkins make it. One of which hasn't turned orange yet.

Our whole front yard is leaves, which I love. It's so pretty!

A little fall flower bed as your driving up to our house. I love this scarecrow my mom painted.

We visited a greenhouse yesterday with he neatest things for fall. I'll have to share soon.

Home Tour - Part II (Summer)

Today, I'm going to share some inside pictures of our home. I still have a few walls that need a little something more but I jut haven't found the right piece.

Welcome, come on in. This is coming in from the front door. We normally don't use this way because we park in the garage and come in the way.

Kitchen/Eating area. I decided to choose and house plan with no dining room. This is exactly what I wanted and still so happy with our decision. I wanted to make every square foot count.

Our living room. Where we all watch TV together. I love roosters and red check/plaid print if you can't tell! :)

Kevin is so handy and recently made me this book/magazine holder from a pallet. Completely free! Then he stained it to make it a little darker and more rustic.

Here is our 1/2 bath. It's in the hallway right when you come in from the garage. So mostly Kevin uses this one. It makes for a good place for the guys who are in the garage to use the bathroom without going all through he house to another one.

Hallway with family pictures

Thankful for hardwood floors. I use a dry cloth swifter and then spray hardwood spray and then sweep it. This color came from Home Depot.

Come back for part III where I'll show bedrooms and our bonus room.

Springtime Front Porch

I am so thankful for Springtime  Honestly, this winter was the hardest on ME as a mom of two very energetic boys, but somehow with lots of patience and prayers we made it! I am a HUGE outside girl. I don't like sitting in the house watching TV and wasting my time "laying" around. I like to be outside and working. My boys have inherited my traits. I was so excited to get some color and ferns onto my front porch.

I want to find some black lanterns to around the front door of the orch. But I am a little cheap and all of the ones I've seen are $25 a piece and that's just crazy for me!

Hope you're enjoying Spring wherever you are :)

It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas!

I started decorating the day after Thanksgiving and I'm still not finished.
Is anyone else having to decorate with kids under their feet and in between cooking, cleaning up messes, and playing? I guess that is why I'm on Day 7 of decorating but I'm almost finished!

I had been wanting a 9 foot tree ever since we moved into our new home last December. It didn't happen last year so this year I waited for one to come on sale at Hobby Lobby and went for it. We have 10 foot ceilings in our living room and kitchen so it works perfectly.

I have been watching lots of tutorials and videos on how to use deco mesh and ribbon throughout your tree. I really love Liz's blog HERE and watched many videos from her. With the help of my mom helping to be on the other side to string lights around this huge tree and adding her touch with the deco mesh, I got the look I was going for.

I added lots of Christmas picks also from Hobby Lobby throughout the tree. I also bought different Christmas picks to put up at the top of the tree but it ended up not working out well so I changed it and just left the star at the top.

Another tip that I learned from LIZ is to take the top hooks off of your ornaments and push them onto the tree limbs instead of hanging them on the tree limbs. Then you can move them around and bend them so that the bulbs are just the way you want them.

Normally I decorate more with a country theme but I really like the sparkle and shimmer in my tree. I didn't buy a new tree skirt because they were so expensive at Hobby Lobby even with the 50% off but I used an older one that had Disney characters on them and just cut them off from the back thread. Maybe I will pick up a new skirt after Christmas when they are really on sale.

We finished up our outside lights last night. Kevin was just thrilled to be on our roof. It is VERY steep. Even our contractor was not thrilled with our choice in house designs because of the roof.

Hope everyone is getting their decorations up and enjoying them.
