Celebrating the 100th Day of School

The 100th day of School came fast this year because of an early school year (August 5th), and no snowy days. The big day was on Tuesday: January 20th, 2015.

The weekend before, Karson and I began on his 100th day of school project. Each child was to bring a poster that had 100 objects on it. It was very fun to do with my own child :)

He LOVES his teacher this year. He wanted to do something about fishing at first, but changed his mind when he saw all of the Valentine's materials at Hobby Lobby. He wanted to do hearts for his teacher. Kevin said that wasn't very "boyish", but that is what Karson had in his heart.

It turned out pretty cute!

I have bragged on Karson, and I won't spare you it all but he has SOARED through Kindergarten. Not a single complaint, or bad day has come his way. This has been a HUGE difference from preschool. He had a hard time with separating from mom and brother most days. I would cry and pray to God that he would change. God didn't want to change Karson until he was ready. He did change, in his time. With God's help, he changed and realized Mom will never forget him and will always come back to pick him up.

Karson made a 100 hat at school. He is always so nice to share with little brother. I really pray for Kipton for next year. He will be going to Kindergarten, and boy do I pray. Hard and clear for God to hear my prayer.

I actually missed the 100th day of school at the school I am teaching at. My whole family had the stomach bug 2 days prior and my turn fell on the 100th day. I was so bummed to miss it, but when I returned I got some pictures of the kiddos with their posters.

Here is one.

In my class we have been working on addition and this was a fun activity. Counting with marshmallows on hot cocoa cups. They really enjoyed it! My students have come a long way since August! I am so proud of them.

Hope your 100th day was special and your schooling is going well. Whether it's in public school, or homeschool it's all in the best for the kids.

Kindergarten

The first week of Kindergarten is in the books, and we all survived. School started Tuesday: August 5th and it just seemed too fast. But fast or not, it was time.

We had been practicing going to bed early and waking up early two weeks prior. So we were up at 6:20 getting ready.

Daddy was off work, and Karson asked that he take him on the first day instead of mommy. (Insert sad momma)

Little brother gave lots of hugs.

Then he was off, off to school for 7 hours! That is the hardest part for me. Its just too long!

Hugs for daddy, and he had to leave.

At 1:00 we had a parent meeting. Afterwards, our boy was finished with his first day. We got a quick tour of his room, chatted with his teacher, and came home to hear all about it.

That night our school boy slept 12 hours and was up at 6:20 the next morning, ready to go.

I am so thankful for only one tear the very first day, and every day after running in. He loves his teacher and his classroom. He loves eating lunch, the playground, and gym class :)

He has 3 buddies, but only knows one name. He also asks why he can't ride the bus. Oh son, take it easy on mommy.

A week of Kinder Camp

This week, Karson has had his first experience as a Kindergartner. His school put on a Kindergarten "Camp" each day this week from 8-12. It has been a great way to get acquainted with new friends, the building, and the teachers.

(Monday)

Transitions are hard. Whether your 29 or 5, it's hard! Karson gained his "not like change" from me. There were a few tears at drop off, that lasted a few seconds, but happy faces were there at pick up.

(Wednesday) Breakfast with Daddy

(Wednesday)

I am hoping for an easy transition when school actually begins. School starts super early this year. August 5th! 7:35 am is going to be an adjustment but I'm hoping after a few weeks well adjust.

(Thursday)

So, this last month and half I'm soaking in time. Time is the best asset I can give Karson right now. Karson enjoyed everyday. He especially loved recess. What can I say, he's all boy! He saw many familiar faces from his preschool class, and met lots of new friends.

On the last day, we found out who his teacher will be for this school year. God is going to use Karson for big things I can see it. Now, let's enjoy summer!!
