Big Boys Update

The boys have been busy the last few weeks with many projects and assignments.

Here they had to create posters on character education traits. They both picked being helpful to others. I would agree this is one of their best traits. We had to include pictures and write a paragraph explaining how they do help others.

Their school also hosted a safe indoor Trick or treat night this week. They really enjoyed seeing their friends in costume.

It was starting to feel like fall here in WV but then it is starting to get back up to 80 degrees in the afternoons. We've had a strange fall so far.

Kase turns ONE!!

Our baby turned ONE yesterday (October 21st, 2016)

Life just flies by.

I pray I am doing everything I can to ensure my boys are happy and knowledgeable about The Lord.

I pray this for Kase too.

He is a sweet boy. He loves his brothers and parents.

He loves to eat! Does not like to be put to sleep.

Kipton (our 2nd son at his 1st birthday)

Karson (Our 2nd son at his 1st birthday)

I think all of our boys have similarities. I love them so much!

Happy Birthday Kase Garrett. WE couldn't love you more!

Revealed! DIY Built in Bookshelves

When we built our house 5 years ago, the plans called for built in bookshelves in the living room. It was to be the focal point of the room.

As many of you know, living on one income always comes with challenges. One of them was that we didn't really need the built ins at the time of the house building, because we had to stay on budget.

So we waited.

5 years went by, and we were still waiting. But, no rush. It would come.

Then some friends came over for dinner from our new church. (we switched churches this summer, that's another post) During that dinner we found out the husband is very handy at building. So he offered his help! My husband is handy, but not with carpentry. This was a huge blessing to us!

We stayed within our allotted budget for this project, and the labor was free.

Can you hear me screaming YIPPEE!! :)

It took them two evenings to complete the project.

I am so happy with the final completed project! It has been a huge blessing to have this completed.

Behind the shelves is bead board.

I love decorating for fall, and I had all of these trinkets already. My mom really loves Halloween, and gave a few pieces for the boys to enjoy.

It turned out way better than I ever dreamed. I had them drill a small hole in the bottom shelf so that I can plug in things like a little lamp, or maybe lights for Christmas.

Hope you enjoyed!

NEW LIFE

There is new LIFE on our farm!!

We have our first baby chick that one of our hens have hatched. She sat for 22 days and out came this beautiful site. It was so sweet. We had been waiting for years for one of our hens to sit.

She is being a wonderful momma. Keeping that baby chick so warm under her wings.

We go check on them multiple times throughout the day.

We are thrilled for new life. I felt like having a chick shower for her :) but instead we bought some baby chick  food! Have a wonderful Sunday!!

Daily walk

One of my favorite things about living in the country are the walks.

Peaceful.
Quiet.
Nature.

It gives my mind a break. A step back away from the world. It is something we do every day.

Some days I take multiple walks. Sometimes during the cool mornings and again after dinner. It is a time to reflect.

I find it to be a great stress reliver to get outside and enjoy all that God has given us. Not only do children need the outdoors but us moms do also!

God says for us to be keepers at home.

After I tend to all of my jobs in the house, we go out for a long walk. I love to be home.

Do you take a daily walk?

What is Family?

It seems more and more this type of picture is disappearing from our country.

Families are so far from what God intended.

He put a man and a woman married together under God. Children should be raised in a home with both parents. In a loving home.

I am very strong in believing that so many children suffer because of their family choices. It seems all of the adults around my age are doing things they shouldn't.

I am here to tell them what they are chasing is no good. Family is so special.

God does not want divorce. When a couple find hard times, they just give up it seems. No one said marriage would be easy. No one said raising kids to love and obey God and their parents would be easy. But it is worth it!

My hope for our country is that families would stop seeking glory in things that won't last, and start placing their hope and trust in God and the family they have been given.

"That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh." -Genesis 2:24
