Brothers

These boys LOVE each other. Anything that Karson does....Kipton does. They are always getting into something and normally somebody is getting into trouble. All of that aside, they are so fun!

Bad Dream

I am writing this post, only because I want to remember in case I forget. However, it probably would be best if I forgot this event and never had the mental picture ever again.

It was Monday night and Kevin had his friend over to help work around the house. We have a huge burn pile to burn from the logs that were timbered in order to build our house. They decided to start the fire. It was a pretty big fire but of course they had it under control. I had been taking pictures of them working to put into our house scrapbook.

We have been trying to get our back yard straightened up so that we can have more dozing work done. We had a couple more friends come and hang out because Kevin was off work for a few days and everyone wanted to see him.

Erin and Josh

Karson was out with us during the bonfire. I had just put Kipton down and had the monitor and kept checking back in on him. Karson LOVES it when friends come over. He loves Erin and Josh and Pup.

My hard working husband. Super stubborn and won't sit still EVER!

Karson LOVES these guys! He wants to be in on all the action and hard work.

After taking all of these pictures and having a fun time the unthinkable happened.

Erin and I had went in the house to give Karson his bath, and put him to bed. After we waited for him to fall asleep it was about 9:00. We went back out to check on the guys. It was pretty dark by down and Kevin kept putting logs on the fire. I had told him that it was getting too dark to do any more work.

He of course didn't listen and he tripped over a stump and fell in the fire. It was like a slow motion movie. The worst mental picture you could ever think about. He went face first and then within seconds he was on his feet walking towards me. I was freaking out and all of our friends were in complete shock I don't think anyone moved for what seemed like years. When we all realized what had happened we were running towards Kevin to help him get to the house.

Thankfully and it's a miracle to say that his face is not burned what so ever. I defiantly know that God was in the picture during this event. His arms are burned from his elbows down to his hands. He was in HUGE pain and had to get them scrubbed in the bathtub so that infection would not set in.

We went to the ER and thankfully they treated him and sent him back home. It was the scariest night of my life. 4 days later Kevin is still in pain and is healing slowly but surely. We are hoping that everything heals nicely and there are minimal scars. Our family is so lucky to have Kevin! He works so hard for us as a boat pilot along with his work at our house.

Please keep Kevin in your prayers. It is hard for him to do much but he is still thankfully able to run the boat at work. I am so thankful for the outcome of this situation. It could have been SOO much worse! Thankful for our mighty God who was watching over Kevin and our family.

Our Saturday

We had a great Saturday. Kevin is off this weekend, which is very rare so we are happy that he is home! After breakfast we all got busy on our "to do" list.

The boys working on the front door kick plate:

We did many more projects: trim work, painting, mopping, dusting, laundry, ate lunch, took naps. It was pretty awesome!! We got a lot done and the boys were happy to have their daddy home.

As we were getting ready for dinner, the boys wanted "deodorant" and they use mine and put it on their bellies. They really like to wear Kevin's but I'm afraid it is a little too strong for their skin, so they smell like Dove. So funny!

After dinner out and a trip to Lowes, we came home to play Wii

And get coached by daddy on how to play baseball...

While Kevin and Karson were playing Wii, me and Kip decided to finger paint. He LOVES painting and he's quite the entertainment

I turned around and he had it all over his face and almost in his eye which scared me. He went straight for his bath and the boys were in bed at 9 tonight which is way later than normal, but hey it's Saturday.

Hope you had a great Saturday. We are keeping it low key tomorrow as well. Next week is my last week with my student teaching. Can't wait until next Friday when I can offically say "I"M DONE!!"

100th Post!

When thinking about updating my blog I logged on to see that this would be my 100th post. WOW! It's quite an accomplishment. I have stuck with blogging and have to say I have enjoyed it very much. I am not very good at writing but love putting memories down on my blog to remember for years to come. Here is one of the first pictures I posted on my blog. The boys look so young!

The boys again almost 1 year later..

April 2012

I wanted to share a few things that have been heavy on my heart lately:

1. Please say a special prayer for my grandpa and my dad. My grandpa has been in the hospital for the past 15 days and is very sick. He has been on a ventilator for almost 11 days and time is ticking away. There has to be some kind of decision made one way or the other. It is a very difficult time, especially for my dad. Please say a prayer for him! He is really struggling.

I never knew how hard it would be to talk about sick people with Karson. When mentioning that I went to the hospital to see Grandpa he really didn't understand why and how someone could get into the hospital for just being sick. It is also hard for him to ask my dad about Grandpa. I try to use my words carefully to not say anything that would upset my dad as well as not telling Karson too much because we all know kids will say anything.

2. Please say a special prayer for a certain boy at school who is going through a rough time. It is very hard to see some students who have to live such a hard home life that it affects their schooling. It truly breaks my heart.

3. Please say a prayer for me. Normally I am not one who requests prayer for myself, but I feel like I need it. As I come down to 2 weeks away from graduation, it is hard knowing what the future holds. One side of me really wants to take a full time teaching position. I love teaching, having the relationships with other adults, and getting away from the house. HOWEVER, I miss my boys so much while finishing up my internship. It has been super hard and stressful to experience the end of a degree, much less with a family. Because I have been home for the past 3 years with the boys and taking classes here and there, I have been able to be there for everything. Here lately I feel like they are gone from me way too much, and someone else is raising my children. (not really but it feels that way) I feel that God is really pulling me to just graduate and save my degree for later when the boys are in school. Please say a prayer for me that I really understand the true place that God has for me at this time. I really want to devote my time, heart, energy, and degree into my OWN two children that God has given me. They are only young once! I will have many many years to work, but I feel that guilt about not using a degree I've worked so hard for.

I know I don't have many followers, but if you do have any advice for me please leave a comment. I would really enjoy and appreciate it!

Our Two Boys

I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner on being a mom to ALL boys. Back when I was growing up I never imagined myself as an ALL boy mom. I just visioned having girls who were dancers and twirlers like I had always been. However, God had a different vision for my life. We are so happy to have two boys.

Karson Bradley is 3 and was born March 10, 2009. He is FULL of life. I always heard people saying this about people in their life, and I really didn't understand what that meant. However, I DO KNOW NOW what that means. It is Karson! He LOVES life and loves running, dirt, farming, fishing, hunting, boats, anything that his daddy likes. He is a TRUE boy!

When Karson was just 8 months, we found out we were expecting again. What a huge shock to us!! 16 months apart comes our second son Kipton Lee. He was born on July 20, 2010 and is now 20 months. He wants to do ANYTHING that his big brother is doing. He has been our strong willed child, but we love him like crazy!!

Hope you enjoy reading our blog. It's such a great way to remember the memories we are making together.

More on the Easter Bunny

To continue from the last post about our church's Easter Egg hunt, I wanted to remember Kevin (aka daddy) as the Easter Bunny. Because Kevin works so much there is not much time he can volunteer at church. I help teacher Karson's Sunday School class a full month every 3 or so months. It is fun and I enjoy watching the kids interact with each other while learning about our wonderful God who is SO big!

I went ahead and signed Kevin up to go to the volunteer meeting at church for the Egg hunt. He come home very excited and said he was up for the running to be the Easter Bunny. They were trying to decide what to have the Easter Bunny do that would make him a big treat for the kids so they let him ride in on a 4-wheeler to "Born to be Wild". It was cute!! Kevin had a good time and really got to know the guys in our church better. He really enjoyed himself during the 2 day set up/tear down time with the church guys. I am so happy he is involved and will be working again this Easter Sunday.

The night before his big debut he had to try on the costume (above) and we made sure it was during a time when Karson was with his grandparents so that we didn't ruin the "Bunny" for him. Kipton sure did love seeing this huge bunny appear as he was getting his bath :)

I also wanted to note that Karson DID like seeing the Easter Bunny at the Egg Hunt. However, he was very overwhelmed by the 300 + parents/kids that were there and when the buzzer went off and everyone started running towards the eggs Karson began crying. There I was on a football field with 2 kids under 3 and one was crying and one was trying to get eggs. It was a little overwhelming for me, so I can understand where Karson overwhelmed. In the midst of the situation I was a little disheartened by my son who was the only one crying in a fun type of environment. But after coming home and thinking about it, I can see how overwhelming it is to a 3 year old boy. After many talks about the situation Karson did tell me he got scared of all the people running. I am hoping this passes with age but once again mommy guilt sat in with even thinking that Karson was in the wrong for crying.

Kipton however went straight for the eggs wild and crazy just like all the other parents/kids. I can't believe how some parents act over silly Easter Eggs. WOW! It was a real eye opener for me, but all in all we had a great time and it was a great ministry for our church.

I am excited to share some projects we have been doing here at home for Easter.

I only have school Monday-Wednesday this week so that is exciting! Looking forward to my 5 day weekend with the boys. Just 3 more weeks and student teaching is over and then it's HELLO summer break :)
